Digital Transport

USB Streamer

A fanless Windows USB transport for revealing DACs.

A USB music source built on an industrial fanless platform, stripped-down Windows LTSE, and playback tuning so the DAC sees a quieter computer behind the USB cable.

What it is

A dedicated Windows source for revealing DACs

The USB Streamer is built as a Windows music source with the flexibility of a computer and the discipline of an audio transport. Library software, streaming software, and USB output are kept focused on the DAC or USB Reclocker instead of sharing the behavior of a normal desktop PC.

Software foundation

Stripped-down Windows, chosen for audio use

We start with Windows LTSE and remove the desktop clutter that does not belong in a dedicated source. JRiver Media Center is the recommended player for library handling, USB output control, and mature audio-device behavior; Roon, Audirvana, HQPlayer, Foobar2000, MusicBee, Plexamp, Logitech Media Server, and other Windows playback applications can be configured per build.

Tuning approach

Less computer behavior in the listening chain

Efficient-core behavior, processor power states, memory behavior, and virtualization-related isolation are treated as tuning choices. The streamer is not built for benchmark speed; it is built to stay cool, fanless, predictable, and electrically quiet while the USB audio path is active.

Features

Built around the signal path

Fanless industrial platform

A passive industrial platform is selected for silent mechanical behavior and stable long-session operation.

Windows LTSE audio build

The Windows foundation is stripped back and configured as an audio source, not a general desktop.

Audiophile software ready

JRiver is the recommended player, with Roon, Audirvana, HQPlayer, Foobar2000, MusicBee, Plexamp, and other tools configured per build.

USB-first output path

The machine is configured around USB audio output to a DAC or USB Reclocker, including reclocker builds with AES output.

Power-state tuning

Efficient-core and C-state behavior are set for quiet source behavior rather than desktop responsiveness.

Memory and storage discipline

Playback is configured to reduce avoidable memory pressure, disk activity, and background churn.

Virtualization-aware isolation

Isolation features are used only when they improve the dedicated audio role.

Power supply sensitive

The platform is chosen for power-supply refinement so the final build can be voiced around the DAC and USB path.

Source architectureIndustrial fanless audio transport platformA low-activity host keeps USB output away from the behavior of a noisy daily-use computer.
Playback headroomLow-power multi-core processing reserved for audio dutiesThe processor class is selected for playback margin without a hot desktop CPU in the source.
Mechanical quietPassive cooling with no chassis fanThe chassis has no fan motor, no fan vibration, and no acoustic noise in the listening room.
Library handlingModern memory path sized per buildMemory is sized around the player, library, and selected software stack.
Silent local storageSolid-state music and system storageThe build avoids mechanical drive noise and keeps local-library playback responsive.
Network handoffWired Ethernet for library access and controlControl and file access stay on wired Ethernet while USB remains the dedicated audio output.
Power strategyDC-powered platform prepared for audio-grade supply choicesThe platform is prepared for power-supply refinement because the source noise floor is supply sensitive.

System fit

Fit and voicing

RoleA dedicated source component for systems built around an external USB DAC or USB Reclocker.
System matchUSB DACs and USB Reclocker builds that benefit from a dedicated transport instead of a daily-use PC.
Software fitRecommended with JRiver Media Center; configurable for Roon, Audirvana, HQPlayer, Foobar2000, MusicBee, Plexamp, Logitech Media Server, and other Windows-compatible players.
What to listen forSteadier imaging, less edge, and lower fatigue in systems sensitive to computer and USB source noise.
Chain fitPrimary USB transport for direct USB DAC chains or USB Reclocker chains with USB or AES output.
